Perfection is impossible (if fun) to try defining; you know it when you see it or hear it. “Sundown” requires little analysis: it’s perfect. Every word, every sound, every second: complete perfection. It’s the rarest type of art that creates its own aesthetic weather system. If he’d only left us this one miracle Gordon Lightfoot would be remembered fondly, forever. But he left us with so much more.

(Seeing him live, in 2009 –at local treasure Wolf Trap, where you can picnic on the lawn and soak in the sights and sounds, an ideal venue for appreciating this artist who epitomized authenticity and the old school– was equal parts business/pleasure and a genuine bucket list item, like paying respects to a prophet.) #RIP, legend.

Speaking of the gifts he leaves behind. Just a short sampler.
